Ready to look at alternative holidays - something a little out of context? Maybe you do not want another trip to an amusement park, weeks at the beach or cruise. Try one of these instead.
Monastery Holidays
There are monasteries, spiritual centers and retreats throughout the country that you rent a room. Some require that you place on certain activities or events, or help with daily tasks, while others require nothing from you. Some arevery cheap, others expensive, and some just ask for a donation. You do not share their faith in these places to stay.
I stayed at a Zen center in upstate New York a few years ago. For less than $ 20, I had a simple bed in a single room. Two meals a day are included, and it was a good library and a Jacuzzi. During the day I walked the paths on the site of the pond, or collect Butternuts on a hill overlooking a valley to sit. It was very relaxing.
If youwant a quiet holiday, they are looking for jobs. They are usually quiet and in beautiful settings. Whether a Catholic convent full of monks, or a Hindu meditation center, most of them now have web sites so you can online.
House-sitting holiday
There are always people looking for others to stay in their homes, water and plants and keep an eye on things. Search this concern to have jobs online or in one of the few newsletters that have listings ofto sort them. Sometimes you can a house on a lake for a month, and sometimes you can even be paid for your services.
Such places are all parts of the United States and most other countries. If you have any experience with the house sitting or care taking it can help. Get letter of reference from those who do house sitting, so you will have a better chance to have with the help of the next position.
How much vacation this is it depends on how much work the owners require in exchangefor the use of home, of course. It is definitely a cheaper alternative than most vacations.
Outdoor Vacation Alternatives
An outdoor vacation does not necessarily mean backpack or hunting. Friends of mine recently attended a week-long bicycle tour in Michigan, for example. These tours take in many areas, or can be done everywhere, if you want your own mediation. You can also camp, or a stay in a beautiful hotel per night.
Another outdoorHolidays can be done at the comfort that is walking from hut to hut in the mountains. While there are some places in the United States, where this can happen, it is much more common in Europe. No tent or sleeping bag is necessary. You walk a couple of hours from one hut to another, through the beautiful mountain scenery. Food, wine, bedding and towels are available in every cabin.
Other options
If you like rock and gem hunting, you could make a van to camp in the head and rent for the Eastern ArizonaDesert. Or do you want to explore the caves of Tennessee. Take a look around and think about it a bit. You can find your own "alternative vacation."
